Choosing a Smart TV in Bowen: Size, Streaming and Connections

Hisense 55" Q6SAU 4K QLED Smart TV (2026)

Choosing a television starts with the room where you will watch it. Screen size, the position of the stand and the devices you want to connect all deserve attention before you decide which model suits your home.

LG, TCL and Hisense

LG is our top choice for televisions at Delacey’s. We also sell TCL and Hisense, giving you different models to compare around your budget, room and viewing habits.

Screen size and cabinet fit

A screen measurement is taken diagonally; it is not the television’s width. A television can have the right screen size and still be awkward on your cabinet if its feet are too far apart. The full dimensions, including the stand, are the useful figures here. Cables and the specified ventilation clearances need room too.

The Hisense 55-inch Q6SAU QLED smart TV and TCL 50-inch QLED Google TV provide two sizes to consider. Your viewing position and room layout matter as much as the number of inches.

What will the picture look like at home?

Daytime sport, evening movies and games can place different demands on a screen. The view from the angle you’d sit at home is worth seeing. Reflections, dark scenes and the view from an armchair off to the side can tell you more than a bright showroom demonstration. A bright shop demonstration is only one viewing situation; familiar content can give you a more useful comparison.

Is QNED the same thing as OLED?

No. LG OLED uses self-lighting pixels that can switch off individually, helping produce deep blacks. LG QNED is an LCD range; some models use MiniLED backlighting. Similar-looking names do not mean the screens create light in the same way.

With our LG, TCL and Hisense options, the exact panel and backlighting help explain differences in dark scenes, bright highlights and the view from your usual seat. The badge alone does not decide which model suits the room. You should never assume every QNED model has MiniLED, or that a picture-technology name also tells you its gaming refresh rate.

Streaming services and menus

Smart TV menus and supported apps vary across LG, TCL and Hisense models. If there’s a streaming service you use every night, you’ll want it available on that model. It’s also worth trying the menus: you’ll use them far more often than most of the features on the specification sheet.

Streaming requires suitable internet access, and some services need separate subscriptions. A smart TV does not mean every streaming service is included at no ongoing cost.

Gaming and soundbar connections

For gaming, the exact model needs to accept the resolution and refresh rate you want from your console, such as 4K at 120Hz. Variable refresh rate (VRR) helps match the display to changing game frame rates, while input lag affects the delay between a button press and the action appearing on screen. These features vary by model; “4K” alone does not tell you how a TV handles gaming.

Your soundbar, console and other sources all need suitable connections. ARC or eARC support and the port that provides it matter for the soundbar, while enough remaining inputs make the other devices easier to connect. The supported functions are more useful than an HDMI version number alone.

Our HDMI cables and switchers guide explains how to plan those connections.

Energy use at the same screen size

Energy Rating stars and annual kWh are most useful when comparing TVs with similar screen sizes. A larger TV with the same star rating can still consume more electricity. The label is a standardised comparison, rather than a prediction of your exact viewing habits.

The Australian Government’s TV energy guide and Energy Rating Calculator help compare efficiency and estimated running costs.
