A new TV connection problem often comes down to one of two things: the cable will not reach, or there are more source devices than available HDMI inputs. Knowing which of those problems you have helps narrow the accessory choices.
Longer HDMI connections
The Concord WV7515 10-metre HDMI cable is designed for a longer HDMI plug-to-plug connection. The actual cable route includes bends around furniture and behind the television, so it can be longer than the straight-line distance.
A little slack helps avoid pulling on sockets. A ten-metre cable may be useful across a room, but a shorter lead can make a nearby connection tidier if it comfortably reaches.
Resolution, refresh rate and supported formats
This Concord cable is listed for HDMI 2.1 signals up to 8K at 60Hz with compatible equipment. A cable does not upgrade the output of a source device or the capabilities of the television.
Resolution, refresh rate and any audio-return features all form part of the connection’s requirements. Every device and accessory in the signal path must support those requirements.
One display and several sources
The Digitech AC1806 three-input HDMI switcher lets you select between three compatible sources for one display. It offers selection by button or supplied remote.
This solves a source-selection problem. You should never assume it duplicates one source across several televisions; that is a different task. The switcher’s supported signal formats matter too; a new cable does not add features to it.
Power and remote accessories
The AC1806 includes a USB power cable and requires a suitable USB power source. Its remote needs two AAA batteries, supplied separately. Those power accessories are part of getting the setup ready to use.
Will a better HDMI cable upgrade my picture?
A new cable won’t give your TV or connected device features it doesn’t already have. The useful reason to change cables is to support a picture setting your equipment can offer but your existing cable cannot carry. The TV, connected device and any switcher in between all need to support that setting, so the cable is only one part of the connection.
