Bluetooth or a Transmitter Base? Choosing Wireless Headphones

2.4GHz Wireless Rechargeable Headphones 800mah

“Wireless” can describe several different types of headphones. A pair that works well with a phone may connect differently from headphones designed to receive audio from a television. The headphones need to work with the device you’ll actually listen to, whether that’s the television, your phone or a computer.

Will it connect to your television?

The Digitech AA2166 wireless headphones use their own 2.4GHz transmitter base. The base accepts 3.5mm analogue and TOSLINK digital audio inputs, and the headphones recharge on the base.

The audio outputs on your television or other equipment help determine which headphones can work with it. A matching socket and supported audio setting are both important. If you use a soundbar too, you’ll want to know whether the TV can send sound to both outputs at once.

This system uses its transmitter rather than pairing directly to a phone as ordinary Bluetooth headphones would. That difference is useful to know before buying for a particular room or device.

Bluetooth for phones and portable listening

The Digitech AA2240 Bluetooth headset provides Bluetooth listening with active noise cancellation. Its included 3.5mm cable offers another connection option for compatible equipment.

Active noise cancellation can help reduce some surrounding noise, but it does not make every environment silent. Fit, comfort and the type of background sound still affect the experience. A comfortable listening volume matters too.

A charging base or USB cable?

A charging base can be convenient when headphones stay beside the television. A USB-charged headset may suit a bag or desk better. Included cables, the required power source and battery life all affect how comfortably the headphones fit your listening routine.

Will it work with the device you use?

Write down the model of the device you will listen from, the connections it offers and whether you mainly want TV listening or portability. Those details help narrow the choice much more effectively than choosing on appearance alone.
