Choosing Home Security Cameras: NVR Kits, Wi-Fi and Outdoor Options

Concord 4 Channel 5MP NVR Kit 4TB with 4x 5MP Bullet Cameras IP66 V4

Choosing home security cameras starts with what you want to see: the front entrance, driveway, backyard or a room inside. At Delacey’s, our Concord and Nextech range covers different approaches, from a wired multi-camera recorder kit to individual smart cameras.

Concord NVR kits: several cameras and a central recorder

The Concord QV8811 Version 4 NVR kit includes four 5MP bullet cameras and a recorder with a built-in 4TB hard drive. Ethernet cables carry camera power, video and audio back to the recorder.

This can suit a planned home installation with several viewpoints and cable routes back to one recording location. The recorder’s location and the cable routes are part of planning that installation. Remote monitoring also needs the appropriate network and Concord Connect app setup, separately from local recording. Any added or replacement cameras need confirmed Version 4 compatibility.

Indoor Wi-Fi cameras: fixed view or pan and tilt?

An individual Wi-Fi camera can be a practical choice for monitoring one indoor area. The Nextech QC3900 1080p pan-and-tilt camera lets you adjust its view through the Smart Life app. It has two-way audio and supports a microSD card up to 64GB, sold separately.

The Nextech QC3907 3MP fixed indoor camera is another option when you want a view of one area without remote pan-and-tilt movement. It also has two-way audio and supports a microSD card up to 256GB, sold separately.

Both need power at their location. Wi-Fi coverage, app compatibility and storage arrangements determine how useful the camera will be there. Remote viewing needs internet access, and optional cloud storage may involve a separate service plan.

Outdoor Wi-Fi cameras still need power

Our regular range also includes the Nextech QC3859 outdoor pan-and-tilt camera. Its Wi-Fi connection carries network data, but it still needs its supplied wired power connection. An outdoor camera should be chosen around its weather rating, mounting position and the instructions for protecting connections.

Battery and solar cameras

The Nextech QC3908 battery-powered pan-and-tilt Wi-Fi camera includes a solar charging panel. This is worth considering where running a camera power cable is difficult, provided you have suitable Wi-Fi coverage and a workable panel location.

Solar charging depends on sunlight and placement. The exact model’s recording behaviour and battery-care requirements matter; you should never assume a solar-powered camera records continuously or works without internet for remote viewing. We can help with availability of these outdoor models.

Dummy cameras: appearance without recording

Our Nextech dummy bullet and dummy dome cameras provide a visible camera presence. They do not record footage or provide live monitoring, so a working security camera is needed for those functions.

Will my camera work through a window at night?

A camera pointed through glass can look fine during daylight and become difficult to use at night. Infrared illumination can reflect off the window and obscure the scene. An appropriately rated outdoor camera in a suitable position can be a better fit for that view than an indoor camera behind glass.

How many days of footage will the recorder keep?

A hard-drive or memory-card capacity alone does not answer this. Recording time also depends on camera count, bitrate and whether recording is continuous or triggered by events. Higher-detail settings can use more space. With a Concord NVR kit or Wi-Fi camera, it helps to know both how long footage is retained before overwriting and how a useful clip can be exported. The useful question is, “Will the footage still be there when I need it?” That’s why recording days matter more than the storage number alone.

Which setup suits your home?

The areas you want covered, available power, cable routes and Wi-Fi coverage help narrow the options. When you’re most likely to need footage, and how easily you could find and save it, matter too. Photos of the intended positions and details of an existing recorder help us give more useful advice.
