Choosing a Vacuum: BISSELL Stick Vacs and CrossWave Floor Cleaning

BISSELL PowerClean FurFinder cordless stick vacuum

Crumbs, pet hair and everyday spills call for different cleaning tools. At Delacey’s, BISSELL is our favourite floorcare brand. We particularly like its cordless stick vacuums for their useful battery runtime and CrossWave floor washers for making everyday cleaning easier. Our regular vacuum range also includes Electrolux and LG.

BISSELL stick vacuums: cordless convenience

A stick vacuum is handy for quick clean-ups, stairs and moving between rooms without changing power points. Battery runtime is one reason we like the BISSELL range, but compare the exact model and cleaning mode against the size of your home.

For example, the BISSELL PowerClean FurFinder 4239 has a removable battery and up to 40 minutes of runtime in Eco mode. Runtime varies with mode and use, so that figure does not mean 40 minutes at the highest power setting. Its motorised upholstery tool gives you another option for pet hair on furniture.

CrossWave and everyday floor washing

A CrossWave can combine vacuuming and washing for compatible floors, helping with the crumbs and mess that build up through the day. The BISSELL CrossWave Edge Cordless 4328F vacuums and washes sealed hard floors in one pass and keeps clean solution separate from collected dirty water.

Your floor surfaces help decide which cleaner makes sense. The model’s instructions and your flooring manufacturer’s care advice are especially important for timber and laminate. CrossWave features and floor compatibility vary by model; the 4328F washes and vacuums together rather than offering a dry vacuum-only mode.

Electrolux and LG

The best fit for your home depends on your floors and cleaning routine. Our Electrolux and LG options are worth comparing for handling, attachments, storage and the features offered on each model.

What does the quoted battery runtime mean?

A quoted battery runtime is more useful when you know which mode it uses and whether that matches your everyday cleaning. If you like to clean the whole house in one go, charge time and a removable battery may matter to you. A replacement battery’s availability and cost are useful questions too. For a larger home, the practical question is whether one charge covers your usual clean.

Handling the vacuum in store can reveal things a specification sheet misses: its balance above floor level, how the dirt container empties and how easy it is to remove hair from the brush roll. With a floor washer, cleaning the dirty-water tank and brush after use, plus compatible formula costs, are part of everyday ownership.

Can I put ordinary floor cleaner in a CrossWave?

You should never substitute dishwashing liquid, laundry detergent or a vinegar mixture for a machine-compatible formula. BISSELL explains that improvised cleaners can create excess foam, leave residue or affect components. A cleaner that works with a mop is not automatically suitable for a floor-cleaning machine.

For a CrossWave, the formula and dilution need to suit the exact machine and floor. Both the appliance guidance and the floor manufacturer’s instructions matter here. The recommended formula and cleaning routine are part of owning the machine, alongside how quickly it handles everyday mess.

What is it like to lift, empty and store?

Filter and brush care varies by model. Regular emptying and the recommended cleaning of floor-washer tanks and brush rolls are part of the upkeep. Only filters identified as washable should be washed, and they need to dry fully before refitting.
